Z.V.M. Rangoonwala Community Center
In
1972, or thereabouts, Mr. M.A. Rangoonwala started a most modern community
center in Dhoraji Colony, Karachi, by the name of Zuleikhabai V.M.
Rangoonwala Community Centre, where basic and reorientation courses are
provided. Girls, and elderly women are encouraged to learn cooking
Pakistani, continental and Chinese dishes. They are also taught sewing,
stitching cloths, dress designing, music and painting. Courses are taught in
English language, interior decoration, and many other subjects for a
reasonable fee.
World
Memon Foundation Community Center
The
second outstanding community center in Karachi is World Memon Foundation
Community Centre which was also masterminded by Mr. M.A. Rangoonwala. This
community center, situated in Federal ‘B’ Area, Karachi, is sponsored by
World Memon Foundation and is attended by about 10,000 girls, mostly non-memons.
The center imparts education in different fields and serves the need of the
area in a commendable manner.
Bantva Memon Khidmat Committee - Hospital Among
those Memon organizations which started dispensaries, Bantva memon Khidmat
Committee is very prominent. It moved a step further and established its own
pathological laboratory and also started providing X-Ray facilities at far
cheaper rates than those charged by others. The number of beneficiaries of
these facilities increased constantly. Dispensaries
Pioneers
among those who started such dispensaries were Bantva Memon Khidmat
Committee, Vanthali Memon Volunteer Corps, Kutiyana Memon Association,
Halari Memon Jamat and others. Some

Cement Hospital
The
management of the old hospital in Kharadar, known generally as Cement
Hospital is in the hands of some Memon philanthropists who have provided
huge funds for transforming this hospital into a big modern hospital. The
hospital managed by Karachi Health Association is known to be one of the
oldest hospitals in Karachi. With a view to expanding the activities of the
hospital, the foundation-laying ceremony of the new building was performed
on 29th March, 1989, and at that time a donation of one million
rupees was announced by the Dawood Family for treatment of children and Rs.
5 lacs were given by the Husein Ebrahim Foundation. For the maintenance of
the hospital, the Pakola family is giving a substantial amount. Halari
Memon General Hospital
The
Halari Memon General Jamat of Karachi had started with a dispensary at
Bagh-e-Halar and now they have introduced a pathological laboratory, a
polyclinic, a hospital and a maternity home.
Since October 1989 the above services, including a blood bank, have
been started. Usman
Memorial Hospital
Usman
Memorial Hospital has been established by Haji Hashim Haji Ahmed Foundation
set up by Haji Hashim Tobaccowala, a well-known philanthropist of the
community. This hospital is spread over a large plot of land with a capacity
of 115 beds. The patients admitted there are charged a nominal fee on a
daily basis. Jamal
Noor Hospital
Jamal
Noor Hospital at Dhoraji Colony is also a well-equipped hospital having all
the modern facilities for diagnosis and treatment. In the beginning,
donations for establishment of this hospital were given by the Jamal Noor
and the Bawa family. Arrangements exist for providing free treatment to poor
patients. The hospital was taken over by the family of Haji Ali Muhammad
Teli and the financing, management and expansion of this hospital have since
been the sole responsibility of this family.

Bai Tai Hospital was established in Federal ‘B’ Area under the auspices
of Jetpur Memon Association which has proved a blessing for the poor and
middle class residents of the area. Here, too, all arrangements are
available for treatment, which is provided at a nominal fee. Ma
Aisha Memorial Centre
Ma Aisha Memorial Centre was established by the Ahmed Abdullah Foundation of Mr. Ahmed Abdullah. This center provides treatment to those who are suffering from neuromuscular disorders. Patients who are disabled owing to some defects in their spinal chords are examined here by specialists and necessary treatment is provided. The clinic has a department of physiotherapy, with the most modern imported equipment and well-qualified physiotherapists, and equally well-equipped hydrotherapy and speech therapy departments. The orthopedic workshop provides braces, artificial limbs and shoes for patients. Laboratory, X-ray, EMG and other facilities are available at subsidized rates. No patient who is unable to bear the expense is denied treatment. Free pick up and drop back facilities are provided for deserving patients. This service entails heavy annual loss to the Trust. Okhai

The Okhai Memon Jamat is running a hospital at Husainabad, whch includes a maternity home. Rajkot
Memon Association Hospital
The
Rajkot Memon Association started its medical services with a dispensary. The
dispensary was closed in 1979 and a hospital was inaugurated at the same
place on 12 February, 1982. Pakistan Memon Jamat Hospital The
Pakistan Memon Jamat has established in Federal ‘B’ Area a center for
the diagnosis of cancer.
The hospital established by the Fatima Bai Lala Trust of Sukkur is also well equipped with modern facilities and its services in the field of health care are worthy of appreciation. Haji Tarmohammad Rahmatullah, founder of the trust, was awarded posthumous certificate by the Human Rights Society for his services Residents of Sukker and its suburbs benefit from the hospital popularly known as CARE. Hospital Patel
hospital has been established by Patel Foundation sponsored by the family of
Mr. Abdul Ghaffar Abdur Rehman alias Mithu Patel – a Memon Businessman
originally from Bantva. Patel Hospital is a modern hospital spread over two
acres (9680 sq.yds.) of lush green land far away from the noise and
pollution of the metropolis. The
Hospital is ideally located at Block-4, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi. The entire
complex consists of 300 beds. However, presently 100 beds have been
commissioned in addition to OPD and 24 hours Emergency Services supported by
Xray, Ultrasound & ECG, most modern Laboratory, Dialysis Unit, E.T.T.,
Physiotherapy and 24 hours Pharmacy. Patel
